We are so excited to be coming up on our 2^nd Annual Christmas in July Benefit Ride. Last year, Tim Covert, of Open Road Riders, approached us and offered to put on a motorcycle fundraiser event to help us assist 50 families have Christmas. This was such an unexpected blessing to us and we got busy promoting and planning for the ride. It turned out to be a great day and we were pleased on the turn out.

This year, we wanted to keep the momentum going, even though Open Road Riders were not active and couldn’t sponsor the event. However, with the help and support of Greek’s Pizzeria in Anderson and many bike clubs (Prodigal Posse – CMA Chapter #1241, ABATE, Eagle Riders #1771, Second Chance To Get It Right, and more), we’ve been able to get the word out to those who ride.

Our 100 mile ride through Madison County stops at Dor-tee’s Drive In and Iron Horse Crossing in Alexandria. For your enjoyment and safety, the route has been checked out by the Prodigal Posse. So, if you ride or know someone who does – please join us and share our event with others.

So, after all of this, are you itching to go out and buy yourself a hog?

You can, but you can still enjoy the fun without attending the ride. When the riders return to Greek’s Pizza, around 3pm,  there will be a buffet (pizza, salad, bread sticks and drinks) for only $10 per person –  $2 of which goes back to Secret Families of Madison County. But wait, that’s not all! The talented Gordon Brooks will be performing a free concert while you enjoy the great food. We will also have a few raffle items available to win.

Board members are pre-selling buffet tickets – >let us know if you’d like to purchase a few.

By the way, we are Greek’s Pizzeria spotlight charity for July – so if you give their FaceBook page a LIKE, they will contribute $1 to Secret Families of Madison County. (up to $200) So, get those mouses a’clicken and invite friends to LIKE them also.

Our board has already met and have some terrific fundraisers in the works to get a head start on helping 100 families be able to experience the joy of Christmas. Here’s what we have planned so far:

• July 19th –  Christmas in July Motorcycle Benefit Ride (see fundraisers menu for details)
• August 23rd – 5-8pm Coopers Bowl-a-thon
• October – Craft/Vendor fair at mall with BINGO activity-  date TBD
• November – Pancake breakfast – date TBD
• laundry soap purchases from our website (on-going, see fundraisers menu)

If you’d like to help us get to that goal, here are some things you can do:

• Plan your own fundraisers for us – rummage or bake sales, dances, etc.
• Host a meal (dinner, cookout, dessert & coffee)  at your house and invite people who you
  think will support this ministry. Share the story or invite us to present the story
• Have targeted conversations with families who have not been involved
  or that you think can do more.
• Invite us to speak at your group/church to give a presentation
• Give us a hand at our fundraisers, help work registration tables, invite friends, spread the word.
